Every feed docket, from every merchant, in one record
FeedTally is a feed docket app for New Zealand dairy farms. Your team takes a photo of each feed delivery docket, and FeedTally reads it, splits blended loads into tonnes of each feed, and adds them up by feed type, shed and merchant. The docket photo stays with the delivery.
It runs in the phone's web browser. Weighbridge printouts and handwritten delivery books both work.
Coming soon: docket scanning, the delivery log and the dashboard are still being built. Today you can sign up, set up your farms, feed suppliers and feed types, and invite your team, ready for when FeedTally reads its first docket.

Feed dockets are easy to lose and slow to add up
Bulk feed arrives with a paper docket: a weighbridge printout or a page torn from the driver's delivery book. If you buy from two or three merchants, that means two or three docket books, each laid out differently. Dockets get wet, fade on the dashboard of the ute, or never make it to the office.
Blended loads make it harder. One docket can carry PKE, DDG and barley in the same load, and if it gets written down as one lump you can't tell how much PKE the farm actually took this month.
On a sharemilked or contract milked farm there is a second problem. Two parties share the feed bill, and both need to trust the same tonnes. Then in May and June the Farm Dairy Record asks for the season's supplementary feed, and someone has to go back through the paper.
How it works
Take a photo of the docket
When the truck leaves, the worker photographs the docket on their phone. The phone remembers which shed they are at.
Check the numbers
The app shows what it read: merchant, date, product and net weight. Anything it is unsure of is flagged so the worker can fix it there and then.
Confirm the delivery
A blended load is split into net tonnes of each feed using the merchant's blend recipe. The delivery is saved with its photo.
What the owner sees
Totals by week, month and year, broken down by feed type, by shed and by merchant. Every number has the docket photos behind it, so a question about a load is answered by opening the photo.
Corrections are made in the delivery log, with the original photo beside the entry. The whole log exports to a CSV file for you or your accountant at any time.
Those totals are what you need in May for the Farm Dairy Record (read the Farm Dairy Record feed guide), and for working out your PKE per cow per day.

What it will do
- Docket scanning from a phone photo, with manual entry for a missing docket or minerals added on farm
- Blend split into net tonnes of PKE, DDG, barley and minerals
- Delivery log with corrections, each entry kept with its docket photo
- Dashboard by week, month and year, by feed type, shed and merchant
- CSV export of the delivery log
- Installs on the phone home screen like any app (it needs mobile signal or wifi to save a delivery)
Coming soon
These are planned and not built yet. There is no date on them.
- Contract tracker: contracted tonnes against delivered tonnes for each merchant contract
- Owner and sharemilker cost split statements
- Invoice check: the merchant's statement against the dockets
- Xero bills with the docket photo attached
- A season-end feed summary laid out for the Fonterra Farm Dairy Record
Who it is for
Fonterra supply farms that buy bulk feed from two or more merchants. It is most useful where more than one person needs to trust the feed numbers: farms run with a sharemilker or contract milker, and owners with several sheds or farms.
It sits beside the software you already use
If you use Trev or FarmIQ, keep using them. They hold feed records, but you type the feed in. FeedTally reads the merchant's docket, splits the blend and keeps the photo. Today you can export the log and enter the totals from it. There is no direct link to either yet.
Silo sensors such as Levno and SiloSure tell you how full a silo is. FeedTally records what was delivered into it, which feed, and from which merchant.
Who is behind it
FeedTally is founder-led and early. Because it is early, there is no contract: pay month by month, stop when you like, and take your delivery log and docket photos with you.
Questions farmers ask
What if the AI reads a docket wrong?
Nothing is saved until the worker has checked it. The app shows what it read, flags anything it is unsure of, and the worker fixes it on the spot. The blend split is plain arithmetic: the docket's net weight times each feed's share of the blend. If something slips through, you can correct it in the delivery log later, and the docket photo is right there to check against.
Does it work without signal?
No, not yet. Saving a delivery needs mobile signal or wifi, and there is no offline mode. If there is no coverage where feed is delivered, take a photo of the docket with the phone camera, then open FeedTally once you are back in coverage and choose that photo to log it.
Which merchants does it work with?
So far it has been used on weighbridge printouts and handwritten delivery books from two merchants. It should read any docket that shows the net weight. If you want to check first, email photos of a few recent dockets from each merchant you use to [email protected] and Dave will tell you how they read. Anything it can't read can be entered by hand.
Who owns my farm's feed records?
You do. We don't sell your records or share them with merchants, Fonterra or anyone else. We use them only to run your account. Your farm's name and your tonnes are never shown to anyone outside your farm.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, any time. The delivery log exports to a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets, straight from the log page. For your docket photos, ask Dave and he sends you the full set. If you leave, you get both before anything is deleted.
